Preventing miscommunication when cultures meet

Leerdoelen

  • Communicate more clearly and confidently
  • Learn to better understand workplace culture and expectations
  • Recognise and reduce miscommunication

This interactive workshop is for job seekers who want to communicate with more confidence in an international and professional environment. Whether you are preparing for job interviews, networking events, or your next step in your career, this session helps you become more aware of how you communicate and how you are perceived by others.

What we’ll work on

We will explore how communication and cultural differences can influence job-related situations. You will practise speaking clearly and appropriately in professional contexts such as interviews, meetings, and workplace conversations. The workshop also focuses on listening to understand, not just to respond, recognising misunderstandings, and avoiding miscommunication. You will gain greater awareness of how your words, tone, and behaviour can impact recruiters, colleagues, and professional contacts.

How to prepare

Please bring an open mind and a willingness to participate. No preparation, previous experience, or materials are required. You are encouraged to reflect on your own communication experiences during job interviews, networking, or daily interactions. A basic to intermediate level of English is sufficient to join this workshop.

Cultures. Connections. Collaborations - I enjoy organising events because they bring people together, spark new ideas, create opportunities for meaningful connections and collaborations.

Being an event manager didn't just give me professional skills. It gave me friends, a network, and a sense of belonging. Organizing those events, speaking to new people, and putting myself out there—it was all part of my growth.
