Job seekers assemble: tackle the search together

Most job searching happens alone: you, a laptop and a list of vacancies. But most progress comes from unforeseen places and when you talk to other people. A tip, a contact, a new perspective.

Furthermore, job searching has changed. An algorithm reads your application before a person does. One vacancy gets hundreds of applicants. “Entry level” asks for three years of experience. Sometimes you are too overqualified, sometimes you are not qualified enough - a real headscratcher. But these are not your personal failures. They are shared problems, and shared problems are easier to tackle together.

Share experiences, gain new perspectives

This session is part of JobOn’s networking month. It is a participatory discussion, not a lecture. Everyone in the room (yes, that is you!) has experience, and everyone has something to offer. When we share it, we all leave with more than we brought.

What can you expect?

• Welcome and introduction: Share your background, what you are looking for, your biggest obstacle, and one strength in your network.
• Group work: We split into smaller groups to work on different issues of your choice. Maybe AI, finding hidden vacancies, sponsorship, staying motivated, or starting over in a new country or field.
• Back together: Every group gets time to share their takeaways and questions with the full room.
• Closing

This is an informal plan, not the rulebook. We can decide to change it along the way. After the discussion, there is half an hour for questions, coffee and informal conversation. Stay as long as you like or head off if you need to.

Meet your facilitator

Amar has seven years of experience in social development and trainings. He is looking for work himself, and organises events at JobOn. He will set up the session, guide the groups and keep time. The content comes from you.
