Coffee connect for job seekers with disability

Leerdoelen

  • Meet other job seekers with a disability and grow your network
  • Find out what support you can ask for, and who to ask
  • Leave with one clear next step, and a plan the group makes together

Since 2013, about 92,000 extra jobs have been created for people with a disability in the Netherlands. The government promised 125,000. Behind that gap are people who apply, wait, and hear nothing back. This workshop is a participatory discussion that brings job seekers with a disability together. Nothing about us without us: we work from your experience, and you decide what we talk about.

Share your story

Everyone is invited to share:

  • Your background and the work you are looking for
  • One thing that has helped you in your job search
  • One barrier you keep running into
  • One thing you wish employers understood

Exchange what works

We pool what we know. Which support you can ask for and how to arrange it? Which employers do it well? What to do when a process gets stuck? Bring your tips, contacts and links, and take home the knowledge shared by others.

Decide what comes next

In the last part we choose together what happens after this session. A follow-up workshop, an organization to reach out to, or a group that stays in touch. That is up to the room.

The workshop will be facilitated by Amar Latif Qazi (amarqazi@outlook.com), who has worked in disability inclusion for more than five years. He has worked on inclusive hiring and supported employment and self-employment of disabled people. The working language of this workshop is English.

Amar Latif Qazi

I have 8+ years of diverse work experience, mainly in program management and social development. Over this time, I have built programs, published peer-reviewed research, trained hundreds of people, supported fundraising and administrative functions, all while staying active in local communities around me.
