Cultural differences in the Dutch workplace

Leerdoelen

  • Gaining insight into cultural differences in the workplace
  • Recognizing the unwritten rules of Dutch work culture
  • Practicing effective collaboration in the Dutch work environment

How do you give feedback to a colleague? When do you speak up to a manager? What does taking initiative actually mean?

On the Dutch workplace, many rules seem obvious, but often they are invisible and culturally determined. In teams with different backgrounds, this can lead to misunderstandings about communication, hierarchy, collaboration, and expectations.

In this interactive workshop, we explore the unwritten rules of Dutch work culture together. Not just by talking about them, but mostly by experiencing and doing. Using creative drama exercises, practical examples, and dialogue, we make cultural differences visible and discussable.

The workshop offers space for recognition, curiosity, and exchange of experiences. Participants gain more insight into their own cultural lens and that of others, improving workplace collaboration and communication.
